Changing Cringers to Supporters

Young man explaining businessThere’s a video on AOL.com that you need to watch.

Soldier Surprises Mom In Return from Afghanistan

In the video, a woman’s husband gets up in a restaurant, and starts to speak to everyone dining there. The woman cringes in embarrassment. When he says that he wants to “give her the gift of her son” her expression changes completely. She is overjoyed, no longer the least bit embarrassed.

The takeaway is this: If you surprise people they may cringe until you explain. Tell people not only WHAT you are doing, but WHY you are doing it. Have the right intentions, and make sure everyone knows about them and HOW you are doing it. You are out to delight. If you need a critical someone or two to cooperate with your plan, tell them in advance and get their agreement BEFORE any public meetings or announcements.

You may change cringers to overjoyed supporters.

Another thing you might consider: never underestimate the power of a Mother’s love. But that’s for another post!
